Sources: Liverpool’s owners make Arne Slot sack decision

Arne Slot still has the backing of the Liverpool ownership despite recent results, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds have now lost six of their last seven Premier League games, and are already 11 points adrift of table-topping Arsenal.

Liverpool’s 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday 22 November leaves them 12th in the table and has increased the pressure on Slot.

However, sources say that there are no immediate signs that the Dutchman will be sacked as he still has credit in the bank with the club’s US owners.

Arne Slot set for crucial Liverpool run

Liverpool now have eight matches in just 31 days before the end of 2025, and the club’s hierarchy expects to see an improvement in results.

The Merseyside outfit face PSV in the Champions League on Wednesday (26 November), before league games against West Ham United, Sunderland, and Leeds United.

Slot clearly will be given more leeway at Anfield due to his incredible first year at the club, as the Reds cruised to the Premier League title, finishing the campaign 10 points ahead of second place Arsenal.

Liverpool are also notoriously patient with managers and try to avoid mid-season sackings if they can help it.

Despite this, sources say that the owners will be forced to act if they don’t see an upturn in form.

Arne Slot could lose member of his coaching staff

Meanwhile, Slot could be set to lose one of his coaching staff, after Football Insider revealed that Giovanni van Bronckhorst is under consideration for the Indonesia managerial vacancy.

The Indonesian Football Federation are in the process of finding a new head coach following the dismissal of Patrick Kluivert last month, in the wake of the country’s failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Former Rangers and Besiktas boss Van Bronckhorst joined Liverpool in the summer to work in Slot‘s coaching staff.

He came in as a replacement for fellow countryman John Heitinga, who left the Reds to take charge of Ajax back in June.

Heitinga was sacked by the Dutch giants earlier this month though, just five months after his appointment.
