Sources: Luton Town set to sign Hull City star Matt Ingram on emergency deal

Luton Town are set to sign Hull City goalkeeper Matt Ingram on an emergency loan deal, Football Insider has learned.

The Hatters have been forced into the emergency loan market after number one James Shea suffered a serious knee injury in a win at Cardiff on Easter Monday.

Harry Isted, 25, has since replaced the injured Shea between the sticks but Nathan Jones’ side are permitted to sign another goalkeeper on loan.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Luton are closing in on the signing of Hull shot-stopper Matt Ingram.

Ingram, 28, has been named on the bench for the Tigers’ last three Championship fixtures.

Nathan Baxter has been preferred in goal by Hull City boss Shota Arveladze which has opened the door for Ingram to depart.

Ingram has played 29 times in the Championship this season and has kept nine clean sheets in the process.

His last appearance came in a 2-1 win over Cardiff City on 15 April.

The Englishman’s contract at the MKM Stadium expires at the end of this June.

Signed on a free from QPR in July 2019, Ingram has made 76 appearances for Hull City.

He has also enjoyed spells at Wycombe Wanderers and Northampton Town.

Luton Town are fifth in the Championship and well-placed to progress to the play-offs.

The Hatters only have Fulham and Reading left to face in the regular season.

However, with the play-offs to consider, Nathan Jones is keen to make sure he is not left short in the goalkeeping department.

In other news, it can be revealed that Fulham have set their sights on signing a Norwich City star.
