Sources: Major Everton January signing update as Moshiri plan revealed
Everton are not planning on spending big in January despite the prospect of another relegation battle, sources have told Football Insider.
Owner Farhad Moshiri is not willing to underwrite another expensive winter window overhaul amid doubts over his long-term Goodison Park intentions.
The Everton hierarchy believe manager Frank Lampard was well-backed in the summer window and the signings improved the squad.
The Merseysiders spent around £70million in the recent window and also brought in high-earning freebie James Tarkowski as well as expensive loan signings Conor Coady and Ruben Vinagre.
Richarlison was sold for £50million to Tottenham but Everton managed to keep hold of their other prize asset, Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The most expensive of their summer imports was Amadou Onana, who joined in a reported £33million deal from French club Lille.
Football Insider revealed earlier this week (15 November) that Moshiri and the board have decided not to sack Lampard following internal discussions.
One possibility was a shock swoop for Marcelo Bielsa, but that has been ruled out and the club will instead stick by the former Chelsea boss following the World Cup.
Pressure is growing on Lampard following a lacklustre start to the 2022-23 campaign which leaves them one point outside the relegation zone heading into the mid-season World Cup break.
Everton have scored the second-fewest goals in the Premier League this season – with constant injuries to talisman Calvert-Lewin surely a mitigating factor in their lack of potency.

The England international has been able to make just four league starts this term, scoring once.
The Toffees return to action against fellow strugglers Wolves on 26 December.
