Sources: Major Ivan Toney update ahead of Liverpool showdown as new details emerge
Ivan Toney is not expected to feature for Brentford in their clash against Liverpool on Monday due to his muscle injury, sources have told Football Insider.
The Bees’ star man was stretchered off during his team’s 2-0 win against West Ham on Friday night.
He has undergone an assessment on his injured leg and scans have shown that the injury is not as serious as first feared.

It is believed that the injury is only a short-term one and Toney in what is a major boost for the high-flying Londoners.
Thomas Frank revealed at his Sunday afternoon media conference that Toney “could potentially be available for tomorrow” as he left the door open for a role for his main man.
However, Football Insider understands that Brentford are veering towards not risking their star striker despite it being a glamour clash.
Toney, who scored his 12th Premier League goal of the season at London Stadium, was withdrawn in second-half stoppage time after landing awkwardly on his left leg.
Thomas Frank’s are soaring up in 10th place and know that a victory on Monday would see them climb as high as seventh.
They welcome Liverpool to the GTech Community Stadium having not lost any of their previous five league fixtures.
However, Jurgen Klopp’s men have reeled off four consecutive wins as they continue to pursue a spot in the top four.

Yoane Wissa could be called upon to fill Toney’s void on Monday evening, with Frank needing to find Bryan Mbeumo a new strike partner.
Following the clash against Liverpool, Brentford have an FA Cup match against West Ham on 7 January, with their next league fixture not taking place until their showdown with Brentford in two weeks’ time – where Toney will hope to make his return.
