Man United have put their January transfer plans on hold until Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s investment deal is completed, sources have told Football Insider.
The Red Devils will wait until the British billionaire takes sporting control at Old Trafford before doing any January business.
Ratcliffe’s minority investment deal is set to be announced imminently after striking a deal with the Glazer family to buy a 25 percent stake in the club.
As reported by Football Insider, Ratcliffe’s investment deal is just days away from being announced with sweeping changes expected behind the scenes once completed.
Ratcliffe is expected to make sweeping changes that will include an entirely new recruitment team which will be responsible for the club’s January transfer business.
A power vacuum is currently in place and all potential deals are currently on hold until the off-pitch deals are completed.
It is understood that the Premier League giants do have multiple targets in the January window with Erik ten Hag pushing for a new centre-back and striker to be signed.
Injuries to Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night added to the club’s defensive crisis with Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia already sidelined with injury.
United’s defensive issues have been evident this season with the Manchester club conceding 15 goals across their six Champions League group games.
A new defender will be among the top priorities for Ratcliffe’s new investment team, but it is understood that nothing is advanced at the moment.
