Sources: Major update on Bayern Munich and Palhinha after £50m+ bid
Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha is not a top priority for Bayern Munich in the January window, sources have told Football Insider.
Palhinha, 28, saw a move to the Bundesliga champions fall through late in the summer window after Thomas Tuchel’s side saw a bid of around £50-60million accepted.
But Bayern are now scouring the market for a centre-back ahead of January – meaning a central midfield signing is now on the backburner.

They want centre-back cover with Kim-Min Jae set to head off to the Asian Cup in the new year.
And while Tuchel’s side could swoop for Palhinha late in the January window, Fulham could again block the move if they are unable to bring in a replacement.
Football Insider revealed on Sunday (17 December) that the Cottagers are weighing up a move for Feyenoord midfielder Mats Wieffer after watching him in action in the Champions League.
The Portugal international signed a fresh contract at Craven Cottage in September – with his new agreement set to run until June 2028.
He has also been widely linked with elite Premier League sides, including Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City.
Sources told Football Insider on Monday (18 December) that Liverpool are unlikely to swoop for Fulham star Palhinha in January.

Palhinha has made 16 appearances so far in the 2023-24 campaign, notching two goals and one assist.
The 28-year-old joined Fulham from Sporting CP reported fee of just £20million in 2022 and the Cottagers stand to make a big profit on the midfielder in the coming years.
