Sources: Major update on Ben Johnson’s West Ham future after Everton swoop
West Ham will make a new attempt to agree a contract renewal with academy product Ben Johnson, sources have told Football Insider.
The 23-year-old, who has less than 18 months left to run on his current deal, is highly regarded by Irons boss David Moyes.
Johnson attracted interest from Everton in the January window and an enquiry was made – but the Englishman remained a West Ham player.

He was frozen out of the Hammers side after rejecting a contract offer last year (2022) but has since returned to the fold in the 2022-23 campaign.
Johnson has racked up 18 appearances across all competitions this term and has been a regular fixture in the Europa Conference League.
The Irons return to European action in the competition’s Round of 16 next month.
He came off the bench as West Ham drew 1-1 with Chelsea on Saturday (11 February) – meaning he has made 10 Premier League appearances totalling more than 550 minutes this term.
Johnson, who can play on both flanks and at centre-back, has been at the club since the age of seven and has racked up 76 senior appearances in that time.
The former England Under-21 international is not the only Irons full-back with an uncertain future.
Vladimir Coufal is out of contract at the end of this season despite his status as a first-team regular amid reported interest from Bayer Leverkusen.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (11 February) that Man United are prepared to sell West Ham target Aaron Wan-Bissaka for a £20m-plus fee this summer.
West Ham face Tottenham next week (19 February) in a second London derby in two weeks.
