Sources: Major update on Chelsea pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres
Chelsea have not yet made a firm move for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, sources have told Football Insider.
The Blues are searching for striking reinforcements this month after an underwhelming start to the 2023-24 season under Mauricio Pochettino.
Gyokeres is on the list at Stamford Bridge following his impressive form at Sporting, but he is by no means the top choice for the Londoners.
There has been no approach from Chelsea for the Sweden international in the mid-season window.
In any case, the Portuguese club are not considering mid-season offers for the 25-year-old as they target the league title and success in Europe.
Gyokeres has hit 22 goals in 25 games so far for Sporting this season – and has also added 10 assists.
He only joined the club from Championship side Coventry last summer for a reported fee of almost £21million after add-ons.
The forward – who is under contract until June 2028, is a regular for Sweden, notching five goals in 19 international caps.

Chelsea are on the hunt for a new striker with Nicolas Jackson, Armando Broja and Christopher Nkunku not providing the level of firepower needed at present.
Football Insider revealed last week (12 January) that the Blues are also looking at Brighton striker Evan Ferguson, Napoli star Victor Osimhen, Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface and Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
