Sources: Major update on Liverpool and Arsenal race to sign Wolves star Rayan Ait-Nouri

Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs monitoring Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri, sources have told Football Insider.

Both clubs are considering a potential swoop for the left-back, 22, as they vie to improve their defensive depth.

Ait-Nouri has impressed for Wolves in the Premier League since arriving in England as a teenager in 2020.

The Molineux club steadied the ship with a fire sale of stars including Ruben Neves and Matheus Nunes last summer (2023), but it is believed they could still be susceptible to bids for their top players in 2024.

Ait-Nouri is all but certain to remain at Molineux past the 1 February transfer deadline.

However, sources say a move in the summer window is a real possibility – with Arsenal and Liverpool both laying the groundwork for a potential switch.

The defender is currently away with Algeria at the African Cup of Nations.

He has racked up 19 appearances across all competitions for Wolves so far in the 2023-24 campaign.

Ait-Nouri is under contract at Molineux until June 2026 – and the Midlands club also have the option to extend that deal a further 12 months.

The ex-Angers star has made 97 appearances for Wolves since joining on an initial loan in 2020.

Arsenal

Gary O’Neil’s side sit 11th in the Premier League table this term – and are 12 points clear of the relegation zone.

That is despite losing Neves, Nunes, Nathan Collins, Raul Jimenez and more in last summer’s transfer window as the club looked to avoid a breach of top-flight financial rules.
