Sources: Major update on Man United accepting Fred offer
Man United will consider offers for midfielder Fred in the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Reports have suggested Fulham are interested in signing the 30-year-old this summer – but it is believed that the Red Devils are in no rush to push him out of the club.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Man United are likely to leave the final decision on a move with Fred.
If the Brazil international wants to leave Old Trafford, the club will be open to letting him go if they receive the right fee – but they are also happy to keep him as part of the squad for the 2023-24 campaign.
Fred’s Man United contract was set to expire later this month but was extended by a further 12 months last year (2022) alongside teammates Diogo Dalot, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw.
According to FBRef, the midfielder earns a wage of £120,000-a-week at Old Trafford.
He has made 55 appearances across all competitions this season ahead of Saturday’s (3 June) FA Cup final against Man City, providing six goals and six assists.
However, the Brazillian has started in just 22 of those outings – with the likes of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes preferred by manager Erik ten Hag.
Fred has turned out 212 times in total for Man United since joining in 2018, notching 14 goals and 19 assists.
The Red Devils paid a reported fee of £52million before add-ons to Shakhtar Donetsk for his services.
Man United are closing in on their first midfield signing of the summer window after securing a return to the Champions League.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (2 June) that the Red Devils are positive about signing Mason Mount from Chelsea after agreeing personal terms with the 24-year-old.
However, the sticking point in negotiations is a potential transfer fee for Mount – who has just over 12 months remaining on his Blues contract.
