Sources: Major update on Moises Caicedo to Arsenal after terms agreed
Arsenal interest in midfielder Moises Caicedo is not dead despite the midfielder’s new contract at Brighton, sources have told Football Insider.
Sources with knowledge of the 21-year-old’s situation have revealed that Caicedo’s new terms sheet, which runs until June 2027, was designed to preserve his transfer value in coming windows.
Arsenal pushed to sign the Ecuador international in January but saw a reported £70million bid rejected by the Seagulls.
The Gunners instead bolstered their midfield options with a late-window deal for Jorginho – who joined the club on a contract running until June 2024.
But Mikel Arteta’s side are expected to return for Caicedo in the off-season and it is believed Brighton could now be willing to accept an offer of £70million.
Sources say the Seagulls rejected Arsenal’s original bid as they were unwilling to part with one of their star men mid-season.
Brighton signed Caicedo for a reported fee of just £4.5million in 2021 after he impressed in his native Ecuador with Independiente del Valle.
He has also impressed in his first full season in the Premier League – notching one goal and one assist in 30 appearances across all competitions.
Liverpool and Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in Caicedo, who now earns a reported wage of £60,000-a-week after signing his new deal.

Football Insider revealed last month (19 March) that Arsenal are also interested in signing Brighton star Kaoru Mitoma after his breakthrough season in England.
The Gunners could go into the off-season as Premier League champions for the first time in 20 years.
