Sources: Man City grant permission for deadline day Doyle exit

Man City have given the green light to a deadline-day exit for midfielder Tommy Doyle, Football Insider understands.

A host of Championship clubs have made approaches to City to take the England Under-20 international on loan for the season.

A City source has told Football Insider that Pep Guardiola is ready to send Doyle out by tonight so that he can get valuable first-team action under his belt.

The 19-year-old has been an unused substitute in City’s last two Premier League games.

However, he is unlikely to be a regular feature of the first team once all injured players return to full fitness.

Instead, he looks set to be the latest of the Premier League champions’ youngsters to be loaned out to an EFL side.

Callum Doyle, Ben Knight, Matt Smith, Morgan Rogers, James Trafford, Gavin Bazunu, Yeboah Amankwah and Lewis Fiorini have all made temporary moves to other English clubs this summer.

Doyle has made six appearances for the Citizens since his debut against Southampton in the EFL Cup in October 2019.

His 50 total appearances for Man City’s Under-23s have yielded nine goals and 15 assists.

He has four years remaining on his contract at the Etihad after he put pen to paper on a new long-term deal in September of last year.

Speaking shortly after signing, he told CityTV: “I see this place as my home.

“I’ve been here so many years and to be offered a new contract was a massive thing for me. It was a no brainer to sign.”
