
Sources: Man City star Riyad Mahrez jets out for medical after £86m deal agreed
Man City star Riyad Mahrez is flying to Dubai to undergo a medical with Al-Alhi, sources have told Football Insider.
The 32-year-old winger is set to become the next Premier League star to join Saudi Arabia’s footballing project after agreeing personal terms with the club.
Football Insider revealed on Sunday (16 July) that talks between Mahrez and Al-Alhi are at an advanced stage.
It is understood that the Jeddah-based club have offered the Algerian winger a staggering contract offer worth £43million per season plus bonuses.
Mahrez is expected to sign a two-year deal with the club with an option to extend his stay for an additional 12 months.
Mahrez started his career at French sides Quimper and Le Havre before making the switch to England to join Leciester City for just £450,000 in 2014.
He remarkably helped the Foxes to win the Premier League in 2015/16, earning himself the PFA Players’ and Fans’ Player of the Year awards that season.
After 179 senior appearances and 48 goals for Leicester, Man City signed Mahrez for a £60million transfer fee in 2018, making him the most expensive African footballer of all time.
During his five years in Manchester, Mahrez has tallied up 236 appearances, scoring 78 goals and registering 58 assists.

He has helped Pep Guardiola’s side to win four Premier League titles, three League Cups, two FA Cups and the Champions League.
Mahrez has also shone on the international stage, scoring 30 goals in 83 caps for Algeria while helping his nation to win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
