Sources: Man City to reject permanent Cole Palmer offer
Several clubs are eyeing up loan and permanent moves for Man City star Cole Palmer, sources have told Football Insider.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the feeling inside the club is that the 21-year-old has a “big season” ahead as he tries to fight his way into the City lineup.
It is believed Palmer is very highly-rated by Man City and Pep Guardiola – and as such, they will not consider any permanent sale of the midfielder.
Brighton have been widely linked with a loan swoop for the youngster.
The England Under-21 international, who is currently on duty with England at the Under-21 European Championships in Romania and Georgia, had a limited role for the treble winners in the 2022-23 campaign.
He made 25 appearances across all competitions, notching one goal and one assist.
However, Palmer managed just 850 minutes of football and was named in the starting lineup on seven occasions.
He signed his last contract extension in June 2021, keeping him at the club until June 2026.
The Man City academy product earns a reported wage of £20,000-a-week at the Etihad Stadium.
Palmer has proved a versatile option for Guardiola and can play on both flanks as well as in an attacking midfield berth.
He has racked up four goals and two assists in 38 senior appearances for City after impressing in the youth ranks.

Man City have already lost Ilkay Gundogan to Barcelona following the expiry of his contract last month, but moved quickly to replace him with Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic.
Bernardo Silva has also been widely linked with a possible move to Saudi Arabia – with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain also monitoring his situation.
