Sources: Man City ‘very confident’ they lead the race to sign Jude Bellingham
Man City are very confident that they lead the race to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Liverpool were previous favourites to sign the 19-year-old but it has been widely reported that they have dropped out of the race due to the price tag attached to the England international.
City and Real Madrid are now the two frontrunners to sign Bellingham this summer, and the Premier League champions are growing increasingly confident that they are ahead of the Spanish giants.
The Manchester club have built a good rapport with Borussia Dortmund following their £51.2million move for Erling Haaland last summer.
City are hopeful that their good relationship with Dortmund will help during negotiations to get a deal across the line.
It is understood that Bellingham was keen to join Liverpool before they dropped out of the race, but he is also intrigued by a move to City which will reunite him with former teammate Haaland.
City are aware that Bellingham will cost north of £100million this summer, but they feel as though they hold a financial advantage over Madrid as they are unsure whether the La Liga giants are prepared to spend big.

Bellingham has been crucial to Dortmund’s success this season, with the teenager scoring 10 and assisting seven goals from central midfield.
The German club are locking horns with arch-rivals Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga title race, with Dortmund trailing the league leaders by two points with seven games remaining of the 2022/23 campaign.
