Sources: Man United board make up minds on sacking Ten Hag

The Man United board remain behind manager Erik ten Hag despite the club’s dreadful start to the new campaign, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed club chiefs still see the Dutchman, 53, as the man to turn things around at Old Trafford.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (2 October) that Man United are not yet considering sacking manager Ten Hag despite their below-par start and the situation remains the same following Tuesday night’s home Champions League defeat to Galatasaray.

It is believed the ex-Ajax boss has plenty of credit in the bank after a successful first season at Old Trafford.

However, results will have to pick up to secure his future at the club.

Man United have lost four of their opening seven Premier League games of this season, including a 1-0 home loss against Crystal Palace on Saturday (30 September).

Ten Hag’s side have progressed to the fourth round of the League Cup, the competition they won last season to end a six-year trophy drought.

They face a replay of last season’s final early in November when they host Newcastle United.

Ten Hag has won 46 of his 71 matches in charge of the Red Devils after taking charge last summer (2022).

He was given several signings in the summer window reportedly worth more than £179million, including Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.

The Dutchman already has his eye on the January window, with Football Insider revealing on Tuesday (3 October) that he wants to add a winger and central midfielder to his squad.

Man United are next in action against Brentford on Saturday (7 October).
