Sources: Man United chase Ivan Fresneda after Arsenal deal collapses, offer for £22m-valued star could be accepted

Man United have taken a “really active interest” in signing Real Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda ahead of the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

It is understood that Old Trafford scouts have tracked the Spanish wonderkid over the past few weeks and the club are laying the groundwork for a potential swoop.

The interest in Fresneda, 18, comes amid doubts over the long-term future of Aaron Wan-Bissaka – despite his recent resurgence since the World Cup last year.

West Ham

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (11 February) that Man United value Wan-Bissaka at £22million-plus heading into the summer window and a sale is viewed as the most likely outcome.

West Ham remain keen on signing the former England Under-21 right-back after their January interest.

Fresneda is also wanted by Arsenal – as well as European giants Borussia Dortmund and Juventus – and nearly joined the Premier League leaders in January.

As quoted by AS (31 January), the youngster’s agent confirmed he was the subject of interest from “30 clubs” in January but chose to keep his “feet on the ground” by staying with relegation-threatened Valladolid.

He has earned a reputation as one of the most promising young right-backs in Europe after his La Liga breakthrough last year.

The Spain Under-19 international has made 14 appearances across all competitions since making his senior debut in January 2022.

His contract runs until June 2025.

Man United

Man United are well-placed to secure Champions League football next season as they sit third in the Premier League title.

Erik ten Hag’s side, who are in Europa League action against Barcelona on Thursday (16 February), have built a seven-point buffer to fifth-place Tottenham.
