Sources: Man United could now sign Harry Kane at £15m discount

Man United are hopeful they can sign Harry Kane for £85million plus add-ons this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Tottenham’s valuation of Kane is believed to be £100m and they will try to secure that sum for their star striker, but a lower fee of £85m is now more likely.

The 29-year-old will have a year left on his Spurs contract at the end of the season and United are laying the groundwork behind the scenes to land him in the summer.

Erik ten Hag’s side are in the market for an A-list number nine ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

On 27 February, Football Insider revealed that United have made Kane their number target as Tottenham struggle to tie him down to a new deal.

Kane was a target of Man City two summers ago, but Tottenham rejected a £100million bid for their talisman, and the Premier League champions instead turned their attention to Erling Haaland.

His future remains up in the air at the end of what has been a calamitous few months at the north Londoners.

Kane recently became the club’s top goalscorer, overtaking Jimmy Greaves’ record of 266 goals for the London club.

This season Kane has scored 26 goals across all competitions in 43 appearances and provided four assists in those outings.

Despite his goalscoring record, the England captain has failed to win silverware with Tottenham and after crashing out of the Champions League, FA Cup, and dropping further down the league, the striker will continue his wait for a trophy.
