Sources: Man United deal days away from being official – ‘it will be a catalyst’
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is about to get huge news from the Premier League on first stage of his Man United takeover
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has just days remaining until his Man United takeover is officially ratified.
Ratcliffe’s Man United takeover deal is expected to be made official by the Premier League by the start of next week, sources have told Football Insider.
The British billionaire struck a deal with the Glazer family on Christmas Eve to buy a 25 percent stake in United for a fee of £1.3billion.
It is understood to be the first stage of a phased takeover that will eventually see Ratcliffe’s INEOS team take majority control at Old Trafford.
Sources have told Football Insider that the takeover is set to be ratified by next week and that ‘it will be a catalyst for further deals’.
Once the takeover is ratified, Ratcliffe will assume full sporting control of the club as per the agreement made with the Glazers and the club are expected to immediately accelerate the appointment of a sporting director.
As revealed by Football Insider, United are expected to continue their senior staff overhaul by hiring a new sporting director, head of recruitment and technical chief scout.
It will also green light United’s plans to refurbish Old Trafford or construct a new stadium under Ratcliffe’s ownership.

Changes have already been made behind the scenes at United despite the takeover not yet being made official, including the acquisition of new CEO Omar Berrada from rivals Manchester City.
Ratcliffe has also been present at United’s matches and training ground while awaiting approval from the Premier League.
