Sources: Man United enter race to sign Liverpool target Ryan Gravenberch
Man United have entered the race to sign Bayern Munich youngster Ryan Gravenberch this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The 20-year-old has been added to a midfield shortlist by the Red Devils as they finalise their summer transfer plans.
Erik ten Hag has urged the recruitment team at Old Trafford to strengthen his midfield department with a powerful and athletic player, with Gravenberch one of his recommendations to fill the role.
United are willing to go head-to-head with Liverpool for Gravenberch’s signature, with the Merseyside club already working on a deal to sign the Bayern star.
Football Insider sources first revealed last month (21 April) that Liverpool are readying a bid for Gravenberch this summer.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are long-term admirers of Gravenberch and have been monitoring his progress prior to Bayern Munich move.
Ten Hag is also very familiar with Gravenberch’s talent from their time together at Ajax.
Gravenberch was handed his senior debut by Ten Hag in 2018 after the Dutch coach decided to promote him from the Ajax youth academy.
They spent two years in Amsterdam together before Gravenberch made a £16million switch to Bayern, while Ten Hag departed for Old Trafford.

Gravenberch has had a season to forget in Germany with only two league starts to his name in 2022/23, but both Liverpool and United are willing to take a risk on the wantaway midfielder.
It is understood that Bayern are willing to let Gravenberch leave this summer due to his frustration over game time at the Allianz Arena.
