Sources: Man United expect to land £80m+ as January exodus begins

Senior figures at Man United are hopeful of making more than £80million in sales during the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The Red Devils are under pressure to comply with Premier League spending rules and are looking to offload several first-team players to help stay within their Financial Fair Play limits.

As revealed by Football Insider, United will listen to offers for six mega-earning stars next month in order to raise funds.

Raphael Varane, Casemiro, Anthony Martial and Christian Eriksen have all been put on the market, while frozen-out duo Jadon Sancho and Donny van de Beek are also expected to head for the exit.

All six first-team stars are on huge wages at Old Trafford and their sales will help United cut down on their wage bill.

The Manchester club paid out £331.4million in wages over the 2022/23 season.

United are in contact with the Saudi Pro League over any potential deals as they look to maximise their return for their out-of-favour first-team stars.

Sources have told Football Insider that United are hopeful of raising over £80million for their own transfer budget by selling players in January.

Erik ten Hag’s side have suffered a poor start to the season after being eliminated from the Champions League and dropping down to seventh in the Premier League table.

The Dutchman will be eager to improve his squad over the January window, but much of United’s transfer activity will depend on their ownership situation.

Football Insider revealed that United have put their transfer plans on hold until Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s investment deal is finalised.

The British billionaire is set to take sporting control at Old Trafford next month and make sweeping changes behind the scenes.
