Sources: Man United join race to sign Spanish sensation Ivan Fresneda

Man United have joined Newcastle United and Arsenal in the chase to sign Real Valladolid sensation Ivan Fresneda, sources have told Football Insider.

Fresneda, 18, is one of the most in-demand young players in Europe after bursting onto the scene in La Liga this season.

Valladolid are resigned to losing their prize asset, who has a release clause of around £8.8million that could be triggered this month.

Now United are pushing to sign the young right-back as they enter the market this month to provide cover and competition for Diogo Dalot.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has an uncertain Old Trafford future despite an impressive showing in Saturday’s derby win over Man City.

Newcastle have targeted Fresneda as they want to bring in an emerging right-back to develop behind Kieran Trippier, while Arsenal are also open to reinforcements at full-back in case Cedric Soares leaves this month.

His agent Luis Bardaji was in London at the weekend with offers expected for the Spain Under-19 international.

Fresneda, who is under contract until June 2025, has shot to fame this season with impressive performances in La Liga with Valladolid.

He has turned out 11 times in the 2022-23 campaign with the promoted side facing the prospect of another relegation to the Spanish second tier.

Speaking earlier this month in a press conference, Valladolid manager Pacheta admitted Fresneda has “few games left” at the club and claimed he would move for him “without hesitation” if he was at another club.

All three interested sides currently occupy a place in the Premier League’s top four as the race hots up for Champions League qualification.
