Sources: Man United line up Maguire replacement – he’s top target
Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo is the top target for Man United in the final days of the window, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (28 August) that West Ham are hopeful of sealing a deal for ex-captain Harry Maguire after reigniting talks over a potential move.
And it is believed any funds generated by selling the England international will be used to fund a move for Todibo.
Erik ten Hag is desperate for centre-back reinforcements – even more so following Raphael Varane’s injury against Nottingham Forest on Saturday (26 August).
Victor Lindelof came on to replace the World Cup winner – with Ten Hag clearly not fancying Maguire to play a real part for his side this season.
Maguire has two years remaining on his contract at Old Trafford, but Football Insider revealed earlier this summer (18 July) that he wants a £20million payoff to quit the club.
He is yet to play a single minute for Man United this term.
Maguire’s reluctance to leave the club has already cost the Red Devils their first-choice defender target.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (28 August) that Ten Hag missed out on top defensive target Benjamin Pavard after the Englishman’s West Ham move fell through.
Todibo, 23, has started two of Nice’s three Ligue 1 games this season.

The former Barcelona star has racked up 105 appearances and two goals since joining the Cote d’Azur outfit on an initial loan in February 2021.
His contract at the Allianz Arena is set to run until June 2027.
