Sources: Man United make Kobbie Mainoo transfer decision ahead of January
Manchester United are still refusing to let Kobbie Mainoo leave on loan in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
That is despite the fact that Mainoo is desperate for regular first-team football, ahead of the World Cup in North America next summer.
The 20-year-old has not started a single Premier League game for Man United this season and has been restricted to substitute appearances.
However, sources say that Ruben Amorim is set on keeping him and sees him as a key part of his plans for the rest of the season.

Kobbie Mainoo next in line for Man United midfield
Sources say that Mainoo is next in line to come into the Amorim’s midfield, behind Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes.
However, with Man United in good form, the England international may struggle to break into the starting XI.
The Red Devils have won their last three games in a row in the Premier League, their best ever run under Amorim.
Mainoo will likely only get his chance if one of Casemiro or Fernandes suffers from an injury or a suspension.
Kobbie Mainoo could replace departing star
Meanwhile, Manchester United are not planning to trigger the extension option in Casemiro’s contract, sources have told Football Insider.

The Brazilian currently has a key role in Amorim’s midfield and has turned around his career at the club after appearing set for the exit door in each of the previous two windows.
However, Casemiro’s current deal expires at the end of the season, and the Manchester side are looking to trim their overall wage bill, which could see him depart the club.
Mainoo would be the likely beneficiary of the former Real Madrid man’s exit, which could persuade him to stay at Old Trafford.
