Sources: Man United offered two strikers as January move agreed

Man United have been offered the chance to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner and Bayern Munich ace Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting this month, sources have told Football Insider.

Preliminary talks have been held over potential January deals for the duo – but it is believed that nothing is formal or advanced at this stage.

The proposals come as Man United finalise the fund-raising loan exit of Jadon Sancho, who is returning to Borussia Dortmund after a fall-out with Erik ten Hag.

It is believed United are also ready to offload long-serving striker Anthony Martial this month.

Sancho’s departure has already been wrapped up, with the England international arriving at Dortmund’s training ground on Thursday (4 January).

As revealed by Football Insider, he will join on an initial loan for the rest of the season with a buy option set at around £26million.

Final paperwork is being completed this weekend ahead of a formal announcement in the coming days.

Sancho’s exit could raise the funds required for Ten Hag to bolster his faltering attack in the mid-season window.

Summer signing Rasmus Hojlund has managed just one Premier League strike in 15 appearances so far this term with United struggling for goals as a whole.

Werner, who scored 23 in 89 during his time with Chelsea, has hit just two goals in 14 appearances across all competitions for Leipzig so far this term.

Choupo-Moting, who played in the Premier League for Stoke between 2017 and 2018, has scored three times in 19 games for Bundesliga champions Bayern this term.

Man United sit eighth in the top flight after 20 games following their loss against Nottingham Forest last time out.

Hojlund and midfielder Scott McTominay lead the club’s goalscoring charts this season with six strikes apiece in all competitions.
