Sources: Man United plot unexpected move for ‘untouchable’ valued same as Jude Bellingham

Man United are interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Red Devils are long-term admirers of the 20-year-old Frenchman having tried to sign him from Rennes in 2021.

Camavinga instead joined the La Liga giants in a £35million deal, signing a six-year deal at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

United have identified a new central midfielder as a priority this summer and remain interested in Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong as well as Camavinga.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (10 March) that United are in pole position to sign De Jong after Barcelona placed a £70million price tag on the Dutchman.

They also want Camavinga in what is a surprise given his likely cost and that he is not for sale this summer and is considered “untouchable” in Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Madrid see the young midfielder as a crucial part of their long-term plans and central to their midfield overhaul with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos nearing retirement and Casemiro leaving for Old Trafford last summer.

Camavinga is rated at the same value as Borussia Dortmund starlet Jude Bellingham by Madrid, and they won’t entertain any interest below £100million.

Other top European clubs have already registered interest in Camavinga and have been rejected by Madrid, and the Spanish side will maintain their no-sale stance towards United.

Camavinga has made 79 appearances across all competitions for Madrid, scoring twice and assisting five times.
