Sources: Man United star Donny van de Beek set to re-sign for Ajax

Ajax are keen to bring Man United midfielder Donny van de Beek back to the club this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The 25-year-old will miss the rest of the 2022-23 campaign with a serious knee injury he sustained in January.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (1 April) that Van de Beek is one of the names set to depart Old Trafford this summer as Man United plan an eight-man clearout.

The Red Devils paid a reported potential fee of almost £40million to sign the Netherlands international in 2020.

It is believed that Man United would accept a bid of £25million for Van de Beek after a disappointing three-year spell at the club.

The midfielder’s contract runs until June 2025 and nets him a reported wage of £120,000-a-week.

Van de Beek made 10 appearances before his season-ending injury – but was named in the starting lineup just four times despite a reunion with former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag.

He was shipped out on loan to Everton following limited game time in the first half of the 2021-22 campaign – but injury meant he made just seven appearances across all competitions.

The 25-year-old’s previous spell at Ajax saw him make 175 appearances, notching 41 goals and 34 assists and winning one Eredivisie title.

Man United are already looking to bolster their midfield options ahead of a potential title charge in the 2023-24 campaign.
