Sources: Man United’s stance on Jadon Sancho return revealed after Aston Villa latest

Man United see no future for Jadon Sancho at the club after his early struggles at Aston Villa, sources have told Football Insider.

Sancho joined Aston Villa on a season-long loan over the summer yet has struggled to become one of Unai Emery‘s go-to players since his arrival.

His trajectory is of particular importance to both United and the Spaniard, with sources telling Football Insider that Aston Villa will only sign Sancho on a permanent basis if he hits the ground running at the club.

Ruben Amorim is keen to sell the Englishman and his poor start to life in the Midlands could see the Villains steer clear of purchasing him at the end of the season.

Sancho cannot risk failure at Aston Villa with no way back to Man United

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the winger must improve performances if he wants to resurrect his dwindling career.

Sources told Football Insider that Sancho is unlikely to head back to Man United in January and is expected to see out the season at his loan club.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained:“I don’t think there’s a long-term future for Sancho in Manchester in any way.

“He was part of that bomb squad in the summer that they were looking to get rid of and they were more than happy for him to go to Aston Villa.

“I don’t see any way back in the long-term at Man United. And as I said, with no break clause in that loan deal, it seems that Sancho will stay at Villa and he’ll be hoping between now and the rest of season he can make an impact and win favour with Unai Emery.”

Marcus Rashford, Antony and Sancho were the founding members of United’s bomb squad, yet there could be a new addition to reignite the second era of the group.

Sources told Football Insider that Man United remain unwilling to part with Kobbie Mainoo after he was blocked from a move away last summer.

The Englishman has not featured in Amorim’s plans this seasons, playing back-up to Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro.

In stark contrast to his former teammates, the 20-year-old has been blocked from a transfer away from Old Trafford, frustrating the midfielder ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
