Sources: Man United’s three-man shortlist to replace Ruben Amorim revealed

Man United are making preparations behind the scenes in case they decide to sack Ruben Amorim, with three Premier League bosses on their shortlist.

Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner is an option for Man United with less than 12 months on his contract making him an “interesting” option for the Red Devils.

Meanwhile, Man United are also interested in Andoni Iraola, as the Spaniard is also out of contract at the end of the season and could be available.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Marco Silva is the third name on United’s shortlist alongside Glasner and Iraola.

Silva has been tipped to quit Fulham amid frustrations surrounding the club’s ambitions and transfer policy, placing him firmly on United’s radar.

Football Insider revealed on 19 September that Man United are unlikely to sack Amorim imminently and insist he will be the man to turn around their fortunes.

There is recognition that results have not been good enough, but the club hierarchy are keen to stick with the manager they pushed to bring in just 10 months ago.

However, contingency plans are being put in place behind the scenes, with a number of bosses on their radar should they decide to pull the trigger.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “I think obviously if Man United do decide to part ways with Amorim, they’re going to look for the best man for the job.

“Whether that’s a manager who’s already in the Premier League or somebody elsewhere, they’ll look at the market and see who is available.

“There are some top managers on their list from the Premier League, who are Premier League proven if they want somebody to come in and hit the ground running.

“So they might decide to look at one of these three: Glasner’s an interesting one as he is into the final year of his contract at Crystal Palace.

“Iraola has done a remarkable job of Bournemouth, lost most of his top players this summer, but still really flourishing at Bournemouth.

“And then Marco Silva has that experience of managing a number of clubs in the Premier League as well and done a very good job with Fulham.

“But look for United right now, they’re still remaining fully behind Ruben Amorim and they hope that he can turn things around.”

Following Man United’s 2-1 win against Chelsea on 20 September, the boss may have given himself a fighting chance at winning back favour among the fans.

Real reason Man United won’t sack Ruben Amorim revealed

United have remained determined to stick with Amorim despite poor results and continuous calls for his head after another poor start to the season at Old Trafford.

Football Insider revealed on 21 September that United won’t sack Amorim due to financial concerns which have dictated their recent decision-making.

Sources say United are reluctant to spend big on sacking Amorim due to profit and sustainability concerns, after reports claimed his dismissal could cost £12million. [Daily Mail]

Football Insider revealed on 18 September that Man United paid over £36million in compensation last season by sacking Ten Hag and triggering staff redundancies.

As a result, the United hierarchy have been determined to cut spending by any means necessary, and handing Amorim a significant payout is not part of their plans.
