Sources: Marco Silva could ‘walk away’ from Fulham after latest talks

Marco Silva could delay making a decision about his future at Fulham despite being offered a new contract during the international break.

A three-year deal is on the table for the 48-year-old and positive talks have been held despite what has been a difficult start to the season at Craven Cottage.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Silva will take his time before committing to a decision over his future, as he is set to weigh up all of the options available to him rather than rushing into an extension.

Football Insider revealed on 14 November that Fulham are determined to agree terms with Silva to end any speculation about his position in West London.

The boss’ current contract is set to expire at the end of the year, while there has been speculation Silva could be sacked by Fulham as a result of recent poor displays.

Fulham want Marco Silva to agree new contract

Football Insider revealed on 24 October that Fulham are doing everything to keep Silva at Craven Cottage and do not plan to let him leave.

However, the manager will make the final decision about his future amid ongoing speculation, with uncertainty now surrounding his position despite positive talks.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “Well I think Fulham ideally would like something done pretty soon.

“Talks have been held between Marco Silva and Fulham during this most recent international break.

“A three-year deal is on the table and there is confidence within the Fulham camp that Silva will pledge his future to the club and end any speculation.

“Silva could walk away on a free transfer or walk away and obviously nobody at Fulham wants that to happen, they want to keep hold of Marco Silva in the long term.

“But Silva does seem to like to take his time over these decisions as well, which Fulham don’t want.

“They’d rather get it done quickly so they know where everybody stands.”

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 14 October that Fulham currently have no plans to sack Silva and are in ongoing talks about renewing deal at Craven Cottage.

How Fulham could convince Silva to sign a new deal

Football Insider revealed on 26 October that Fulham must prove that can match Silva’s ambition if they want him to extend his stay at Craven Cottage.

Silva wants assurances over Fulham’s transfer plans amid suggestions he could walk away if not given the board’s backing in the January transfer window.

This comes after what proved to be a frustrating summer despite the eventual deals agreed late in the window, which left the boss questioning his position.

Football Insider revealed on 10 October that Saudi Pro League clubs are interested in Silva and could make a move to lure him away from Fulham.

Meanwhile, Silva was linked with the Nottingham Forest job and Man United were interested in the Fulham boss, leading to growing uncertainty in West London.
