Sources: Millwall have rejected multiple Burnley bids for Flemming

Millwall have rejected two bids from Premier League newcomers Burnley for attacking midfielder Zian Flemming, sources have told Football Insider.

The 24-year-old is a top summer target for the Clarets after his outstanding debut Championship campaign with the Lions last term.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that it won’t take a “massive” fee to land Flemming – but Milwall are nonetheless holding out for a handsome profit.

The Dutchman joined the Londoners last summer (2022) for a reported club-record £1.7million fee.

He turned out 44 times across all competitions, notching 15 goals and three assists as Millwall narrowly missed out on a playoff berth.

Flemming is well known to Kompany following Burnley’s promotion from the Championship as league winners in the 2022-23 campaign.

The Belgian is a big admirer of the midfielder and sees him as someone who could make the step up to the Premier League with his Clarets side.

Flemming can play in a variety of midfield roles, on both flanks and lead the line.

Speaking after his first season in England and quoted by Southwark News (13 May), the 24-year-old said he was proud of how he managed to adjust to life in the Championship given the high intensity of the league.

The midfielder’s fine goalscoring form could now land him a move to the Premier League with Burnley.

Kompany’s side have already wrapped up three permanent arrivals so far in this summer window.
