Sources: Moyes spearheading last-gasp Lingard talks as two West Ham signings close

West Ham still stand a chance of signing Jesse Lingard on deadline day, Football Insider has learned.

The Hammers remain in talks with Manchester United and the player about re-signing their loan star from last season.

Reports have suggested the potential capture of Lingard is off the table but an Irons source has told Football Insider that David Moyes is still working on the deal and is hopeful it can be done.

The 28-year-old’s chances of game time at Man United have diminished even further in recent days following the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo.

That has given West Ham hope that they can agree a deal for the attacking midfielder before the transfer window shuts.

West Ham are also set to complete the signing of CSKA Moscow playmaker Nikola Vlasic, who has jetted in to finalise a deadline-day deal.

The Irons have had a bid accepted by the Russian club and have also agreed personal terms with the player.

Vlasic is no stranger to the Premier League having been on Everton’s books for two years prior to a £14million move to CSKA Moscow in 2019.

He featured 19 times for the Toffees and contributed two goals and one assist.

It comes as part of a late recruitment drive at West Ham which has already seen Kurt Zouma sign from Chelsea.

Lingard has been one of West Ham’s top targets in this transfer window.

However, the England international returned to Old Trafford this summer in the hope that he could force his way into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans.

His 16 appearances for the Hammers last season yielded a remarkable nine goals and five assists.

In other news, Danny Mills claims Moyes has just pulled off a ‘brilliant move’ as West Ham confirm deal.
