Sources: NAC Breda lead race to sign Brighton star Marc Leonard

Dutch club NAC Breda lead the chase to sign Brighton midfielder Marc Leonard this summer, Football Insider understands.

The Scotland Under-21 international is highly regarded at the Seagulls but they could loan him out next season.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that NAC Breda are among a number of clubs at home and abroad who have made enquiries about Leonard’s availability for next season.

Brighton are weighing up the best move for the youngster at this stage of his career.

The 20-year-old has been on the bench for Brighton in several Premier League games this season and made two starts in the League Cup earlier this campaign.

Leonard penned a new deal at the Amex Stadium in December 2021 – keeping him on the south coast until June 2023.

The young midfielder has notched four goals and three assists for the Seagulls’ Under-23 side in Premier League 2 competition this term.

He came through the ranks at Hearts but chose to further his development with a move to Premier League Brighton in 2018.

The Seagulls’ Under-23 side is one of the best in the country and is a part of the elite Premier League 2 Division One competition.

The Glasgow-born starlet has made five appearances for Scotland’s Under-21s since making his debut in October 2021.

Brighton have all but secured another Premier League season having reached a tally of 41 points with four games remaining.
