Sources: Neil Critchley and Mark Bonner shortlisted for Luton Town job
Ex-Aston Villa coach Neil Critchley and Cambridge United boss Mark Bonner have been shortlisted for the Luton Town manager’s job, sources have told Football Insider.
Luton are drawing up a list of targets with Nathan Jones on the verge of joining Southampton.
He has agreed terms with the Premier League club and been granted permission to hold formal talks with them following Luton’s Championship clash against Stoke City on Tuesday night.
Critchley is currently out of work after leaving Aston Villa along with Steven Gerrard when he was sacked last month.
The 44-year-old had surprisingly left a Championship management post at Blackpool in June to link up with his former Liverpool colleague.
He had overseen promotion from League One in his first full season at Bloomfield Road and spent two-and-a-half years in total at the club.
Bonner, 36, is regarded as one of the best young managers in the country having impressed at Cambridge and he recently turned down the Rotherham job.
The Saints sacked Hassenthutl after almost four years at St Mary’s following their 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United at the weekend (6 November).
On Monday (7 November), sources told this site that Southampton are confident of appointing Jones within the next 48 hours.

The new boss is expected to be in the dugout for their Premier League game against Liverpool on Saturday (12 November).
Luton are currently eighth in the league this season and have been on a solid run with just one defeat in their last 11 games.
In other news, sources have told this site that Luton Town set sights on signing son of Rangers legend Johnston.
