Sources: New Aston Villa clause revealed – they could land £17m within months

The deal between Aston Villa and Adidas includes a Champions League clause worth around £5million, sources have told Football Insider.

The Birmingham-based side have struck a long-term agreement with Adidas as their kit manufacturer starting from the 2024/25 season.

Adidas will replace Castore as Villa’s manufacturer following complaints from both the men’s and women’s squads regarding the quality of the club’s 2023/24 kits.

Aston Villa

Football Insider revealed last Wednesday (10 January) that Villa’s Adidas deal is worth over £12million per season – three times the value of their £4million Castore deal.

Well-placed sources have since told Football Insider that Villa’s Adidas contract also includes bonuses relating to Champions League qualification.

It is understood that the value will increase by as much as £5million if Unai Emery’s side qualify for the European competition.

Villa currently sit third in the Premier League table – two points behind leaders Liverpool.

The top four finishers in the Premier League are usually awarded Champions League qualification, but England could be handed a fifth spot in 2024/25.

Due to the revamped format of the Champions League next season, the Premier League is on track to be awarded five qualification spots next season depending on results.

Tottenham

With just 17 games remaining this season, Villa have a strong chance of finishing inside the top five, which would see them earn £17million from their Adidas agreement next season.

It is understood that clauses also exist for qualification to the Uefa Europa League, although the financial payout is considerably less.
