Sources: Newcastle plan Tino Livramento talks after Man City update

Newcastle have no plans to let Tino Livramento leave the club this summer as they continue new contract talks amid continued interest in his services from Man City.

The Magpies are keen to tie Livramento down to a new contract and make him one of the highest-paid players in Eddie Howe‘s squad.

His current deal is set to expire in 2028, but discussions have been held over fresh terms as he continues to be heavily linked with a summer move to Man City.

Howe does not want the England right-back to leave his squad anytime soon after his impressive performances over the last 18 months.

Livramento is set to further his credentials by going to the World Cup with the Three Lions, and as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Newcastle will stand firm in their desire to keep him on Tyneside if City come calling.

Newcastle will only sell Tino Livramento for huge fee as contract talks continue

The 23-year-old featured 45 times for Newcastle last season as they finished fifth and won the Carabao Cup, while he has impressed this time around, but injuries have limited him to making just 19 appearances so far.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Newcastle don’t want to lose him, there’s no doubt about that, they want to keep hold of Livramento.

“There have been ongoing talks over a new deal, but nothing is agreed as yet, so that would maybe give Man City a bit of hope that they maybe could be lured away.

“It would take a huge offer I think for Newcastle to even consider selling him. He’s under contract until 2028, so they’re in no rush to sell Livramento.

“Eddie Howe wants to keep hold of Livramento and build his team around him, because he is such an exciting player and someone with huge potential.”

Newcastle make left-back a priority amid Lewis Hall concerns

Livramento is not the only young English full-back who has caught the eye at Newcastle, with fellow ex-Chelsea youngster Hall also becoming a key man under Howe over the last few seasons.

He has also been a standout among Premier League players in his position this term, with Man United linked to his services as a result.

Sources have told Football Insider that Newcastle are prioritising a left-back signing ahead of the summer window, either to replace Hall or provide valuable depth and competition.

The Magpies will not want to lose both Hall and Livramento before next season, but may be forced to cash in on one of their young stars if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.
