Sources: Newcastle set sights on signing Luke Shaw after Man United update
Newcastle United are keeping tabs on frozen-out Man United star Luke Shaw, sources have told Football Insider.
The England international’s Old Trafford future is up in the air with his contract due to expire in the summer of 2023.
United have the option to extend that deal for a further 12 months as they do with a number of Shaw’s colleagues including Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Newcastle are aware of Shaw’s situation and are set to monitor him going into the January window, when United could be tempted by a cut-price offer.
Matt Targett is the first choice left-back at St James’ Park, but he was left out of the starting XI for last weekend’s 4-1 in over in favour of the versatile Dan Burn.
Shaw, 27, is regarded by Newcastle’s recruitment team as an upgrade on the pair.
Shaw started the season as United’s first choice left-back, with summer signing Tyrell Malacia expected to play second fiddle.
The England international made the XI for the opening two Premier League matches but was hauled off at half-time of the 4-0 thrashing by Brentford and was then axed from the team.
He did not figure in the next four Premier League matches before coming on at half-time of last Sunday’s 6-3 demolition by Man City.
Once again, Malacia was preferred to Shaw for Thursday’s 3-2 Europa League win over Omonia Nikosia as Erik ten Tag selected a strong team.

For the second match in a row, the Englishman came on at the break and played for the entirety of the second half.
Shaw has played 218 times for United since signing from Southampton for £27million in the summer of 2014.
