Sources: Newcastle three-man signing plan revealed

Newcastle are planning to complete their summer business with deals for a left-back, centre-back and wide forward, sources have told Football Insider.

The Magpies are on course for another big-money window and have already completed a reported £55million deal for AC Milan and Italy midfielder Sandro Tonali, who penned a five-year contract at St James’ Park.

The Magpies have also wrapped up the arrival of Gambia international winger Yankuba Minteh – who has immediately gone on loan to Eredivisie winners Feyenoord.

Eddie Howe’s side have the added demands of Champions League football to contend with following their fourth-place finish last term.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the mega-rich Tynesiders are keen to wrap up their summer business by completing deals for a left-back, centre-back and wide forward.

However, Football Insider revealed on Monday (17 July) that Newcastle are unlikely to seal a summer move for Napoli superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

It is believed that Howe’s side are unlikely to find themselves in the right financial position to land Kvaratskhelia.

Meanwhile, Leicester star Harvey Barnes remains a top target for the Magpies as they look to bolster their winger options.

He managed a healthy return of 13 goals and three assists in 40 games across all competitions last term – despite the Foxes’ relegation to the Championship.

Howe is also prioritising defensive reinforcements – and is keen to add a centre-back and left-back this summer.

Newcastle have released Ciaran Clark and Matty Longstaff this summer – while striker Chris Wood has joined Nottingham Forest on a permanent basis.

The Magpies are back in action in their first pre-season friendly against Gateshead on 15 July.
