Sources: Newcastle United hit by ‘PSR’ blow
Newcastle United have endured a frustrating start to the Premier League season so far and are hoping to find their form before too long.
Eddie Howe’s side beat Fulham 2-1 on 25 October in what will be seen as an important victory to kickstart their season after dealing with inconsistency in the early stages.
The win against Fulham was just the third the Magpies have picked up from nine league games this season, and questions have been asked of them as a result.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Newcastle are still struggling from the transfer chaos they dealt with during the summer.
However, they are now making plans for the January transfer window as there is a growing belief that they can still strengthen the squad in key areas.

Newcastle battling with PSR concerns ahead of January window
Newcastle’s January transfer window plans come despite having spent around £250million in the summer window to bolster Howe’s squad for Champions League football.
While they also completed major sales including Alexander Isak’s record-breaking £125million move to Liverpool, concerns about profit and sustainability rules have lingered.
The Magpies have been restricted in multiple transfer windows over the last couple of years, and as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, they could now face similar issues in the January window.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “I don’t think Newcastle will be rushing into anything just yet to make any plans for striker additions.
“They’ll be hoping that Wissa can get fit, come in and prove his worth to the team as soon as possible.
“Again, any new striker as well, if they were to look to bring in a new one, they would have to juggle with PSR and FFP as well to maybe free up funds to do something else.

“So I would say it’s unlikely as things stand that Newcastle will be looking to bring a new striker.
“I’m sure all their focus is getting them Wissa fit as soon as possible and getting him available for Eddie Howe’s side.”
This comes amid speculation about potential attacking reinforcements, with concerns growing about Yoane Wissa’s injury and lack of availability since his arrival.
Newcastle make transfer decision amid Yoane Wissa concern
Isak and Callum Wilson‘s summer departures meant Newcastle needed to sign two new strikers, but only Nick Woltemade has been fit so far this season.
Football Insider revealed on 26 October that Newcastle are unlikely to sign a new striker and hope Wissa will return to full fitness in the near future.
The latest update on the striker’s future is that he could be in contention for their visit to West Ham next weekend, but will take longer to get back to match fitness.

Wissa was expected to be fit start against Wolves and was in line to make his Newcastle debut shortly following his arrival, but faced a major setback.
He had a scan on his knee after travelling back from international duty with DR Congo in September, and later saw a specialist to assess the extent of the blow.
