Sources: Nice in advanced talks to sign Fulham star Joe Bryan

Fulham defender Joe Bryan is in advanced talks to join Nice, sources have told Football Insider.

The left-back, 28, has been given the green light to leave Craven Cottage ahead of Thursday’s (1 September) transfer deadline.

Nice, who have already raided the Premier League for Kasper Schmeichel and Nicolas Pepe this summer, are now confident of completing a deal for Bryan.

Negotiations are ongoing with a full agreement nearly in place.

The left-back has not been in the Fulham squad for any of their five Premier League games so far this season.

He has played just 45 minutes in the League Cup.

Bryan has less than 12 months to run on his contract at Craven Cottage – with the Londoners holding the option of an additional year.

He has racked up 44 appearances in the Premier League – with most of his 300-plus career games coming in the Championship.

His most memorable moment in a Cottagers shirt came in the second-tier play-off final in 2020 – when he scored a brace at Wembley to promote Fulham at the expense of rivals Brentford.

Bryan began his career at Bristol City, making 230 appearances for the club before signing for Fulham in the summer of 2018.

The defender is set to link up once again with former teammate Mario Lemina, who plied his trade on loan at Craven Cottage for the 2020-21 campaign.

Fulham

Nice have started their Ligue 1 campaign with just two points from four games, leaving them 18th in the table.

Fulham are sixth in the Premier League after winning two of their opening five matches.
