Sources: Norwich City submit Fali Cande offer
Norwich City have submitted an offer for Metz defender Fali Cande,ย sources have told Football Insider.
Canaries manager Dean Smith is in the market for a new left-back before the close of the transfer window and has targeted a move for the Guinea-Bissau international, 24.
Norwich have lodged a loan offer for Cande as they work on completing a deal this week.
The left-back joined Metz in January from Portuguese side Portimonense โ but was powerless to avoid the French sideโs relegation to Ligue 2.
He made 16 top-flight appearances in the Liga Portugal in the first half of the season โ before turning out 11 times in Ligue 1 in the second half of the campaign.
Cande also played 270 minutes at the African Cup of Nations earlier this year but couldnโt prevent Guinea-Bissau being knocked out at the group stage.
He has notched 14 caps for his country since his international debut in 2021.
The versatile left-footed defender can turn out as a left-back, wing-back, or centre-back.
Cande is under contract at Metz until June 2026.
Norwich, who sit 16th after four Championship games, have just two senior left-backs on their books.
However, Dimitris Giannoulis suffered a horror ankle injury last week โ while Sam McCallum will not play again until after the winter World Cup.
Kenny McLean and Jacobย Lungi Sorensen have filled in at full-back in recent games, but manager Dean Smith is desperate for a natural option.

The Canaries have already completed the signings of Isaac Hayden, Gabriel Sara, Marcelino Nunez, and Aaron Ramsey this summer.
Smithโs side are trying to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
