Sources: Owen Bray set to quit Leeds United

Owen Bray is set to quit Leeds United at the end of the season, Football Insider has learned.

The midfielder, 19, is out of contract within weeks and has failed to agree terms on an extension.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider that Bray is now looking for a new club after being told he is free to leave.

The club took up a 12-month extension in Bray’s scholarship deal last summer (2021) but he is now set to end his association with the Whites.

He has not been able to step up and compete in Mark Jackson’s Under-23s squad.

Operating mainly on the right, the Ireland youth international has not featured for the Under-23s this term.

Jackson has instead preferred the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Stuart McKinstry who are on the verge of Jesse Marsch’s first team.

Bray did make an appearance for the Under-21s when a youthful side were hammered 7-0 by Accrington Stanley in the EFL Trophy last season.

Marcelo Bielsa decided not to send a full-strength Under-23s side as he wanted his first team to face them ahead of the start of the Premier League season in a training ground friendly.

English-born Bray did make six appearances for the Under-18s last season including four games in the Under-18 Premier League.

While the likes of Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Summerville have all been able to force their way into the first-team squad, Bray’s career will continue away from Elland Road.
