Sources: Patterson agrees £28,000-a-week Everton deal as Rangers move finalised

Nathan Patterson has agreed a £28,000-a-week contract with Everton as he puts the finishing touches to his move from Rangers, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The right-back, 20, has headed down south for a medical and to finalise contract terms with the Premier League outfit.

An Everton source has told Football Insider that Patterson has reached agreement on a long-term deal initially worth £28,000-a-week.

That will mean a major pay hike for the young Scotland international, who graduated from the Rangers academy to make his mark in their first-team.

The Glasgow giants have given the green light to Patterson joining Everton in the January window for an initial £12million that could rise to £16m with add-ons.

He will become the club’s second big-money signing of the month following the capture of left-back Vitaly Mykolenko.

Everton announced the signing from Dynamo Kiev as soon as the window opened in a deal that could be worth up to £17m.

Patterson is lined up as a long-term successor to 33-year-old skipper Seamus Coleman.

Rangers have held firm on securing a fee for Patterson that shatters the previous club record of £9m for Alan Hutton in 2008.

It will help ease their financial concerns after reporting a £23m loss in their most recent set of accounts.

Patterson has played second fiddle this season at Rangers to skipper James Tavernier, who is the club’s first choice right-back.

In total, the academy product has only 15 starts in his Gers career among a total of 27 appearances since a debut in January, 2020.

In other news, a second Rangers player is undergoing a medical at an English club today as deal all but done.
