West Ham are ready to offload Winston Reid this summer and replace him with a new centre-back, Football Insider understands.
The New Zealand international has not played for over a year after breaking down with a knee injury in March 2018 that required surgery.
A club source has told Football Insider that Manuel Pellegrini has given the green light for Reid, 30, to be sold even though he has returned to training.
Issa Diop and Angelo Ogbonna have emerged as the regular centre-back pairing in recent months, with fit-again Fabian Balbuena the third senior central defender.
Pellegrini wants a new centre-back in the summer window to compete with the trio and to replace Reid, who may have now played his last game for the club.
The 24-times international is one of West Ham’s longest-serving players and has made 223 appearances since signing from Danish club FC Midtjylland in the summer of 2010 for around £4million.
Reid is contracted to West Ham until 2023 after signing a six-year deal in 2017.
