Sources: Plymouth Argyle agree Tom Cleverley manager deal after Jack Wilshere interview
Plymouth will confirm the appointment of Tom Cleverley as their new manager, sources have told Football Insider.
The club, relegated to League One, have agreed to appoint the 35-year-old former Watford manager after being impressed in further talks this week.
Cleverley is expected to succeed Miron Muslic, who left for Schalke at the end of last month, with an appointment anticipated in the next 24 hours.
A full agreement is in place and the paperwork of the deal is now being completed.
Cleverley reaches full agreement with Plymouth
Cleverley, sacked by Watford last month after finishing 14th in the Championship, has been identified as Plymouth’s number one target after final interviews with four candidates on Wednesday (11 June).
Discussions are believed to have been held with candidates including Jack Wilshere and Des Buckingham.
Cleverley retired as a player in 2023 but remained at Watford and was given the caretaker manager job in March 2024.

He impressed in that role and was given the full-time gig a month later – but has now been replaced as Hornets boss by Paulo Pezzolano.
The ex-Man United midfielder won 18 of his 55 Championship matches in charge at Vicarage Road, drawing a further 14.
Plymouth finished 23rd in in the second-tier last term in a tumultuous campaign which saw them sack Wayne Rooney mid-season.
Plymouth target instant Championship return
Argyle have already completed four summer signings, adding Bradley Ibrahim, Jack MacKenzie, Jamie Paterson and Caleb Watts to their squad.
The Devon club will be targeting an instant return to the Championship next season but will face stiff competition from fellow relegated clubs Cardiff and Luton.
Meanwhile, Plymouth star Bali Mumba has been widely linked with a potential Home Park exit this summer after impressing in the second tier.
