Sources: Pochettino dines with high-profile broadcaster to help him get Tottenham job

Pochettino is pushing hard behind the scenes to get the Tottenham job, sources have told Football Insider.

The 51-year-old has been out of a job since parting ways with Paris Saint-Germain in July 2022, but has been strongly linked with a return to North London this summer.

It is understood that Pochettino is trying to drum up support in the media to help his push to return as Spurs boss.

He has even taken one high-profile broadcaster out for dinner to help push his case in the media.

Tottenham parted ways with Antonio Conte last Monday (27 March) following the Italian’s poor form and outbursts about the club in the media.

The Premier League outfit are now in the hunt for a new manager, with Julian Nagelsmann high up on their candidate list.

However, Football Insider sources revealed on Saturday (1 April) that Spurs target Nagelsmann has fears that taking the Tottenham job could damage his career.

It is understood that Tottenham would prefer to hire a currently unemployed manager to avoid paying a large compensation fee, which outlines Pochettino as an ideal choice.

However, Tottenham are not yet convinced that re-hiring Pochettino is the best move for the club.

Pochettino was sacked by Spurs in November 2019, just five months after he reached the Champions League final with the club.

He took charge of 293 senior matches as Tottenham manager over a five-year spell and departed with a win rate of 54.27 per cent.
