Port Vale turn to ex-West Brom defender to replace Andy Crosby
Former Millwall first-team coach Paul Robinson is in the frame for the vacant manager’s job at Port Vale, sources have told Football Insider.
Port Vale are searching for a new manager following the sacking of Andy Crosby earlier this week over after a run of just one win from eight games.
Former West Brom and Birmingham defender Robinson is a contender to succeed Crosby following his success coaching at Millwall under Gary Rowett.
Robinson, 45, is highly regarded within coaching circles and he has admirers within the corridors of power at Port Vale.
He enjoyed a successful playing career in the EFL, making 762 appearances across all competitions for clubs like Watford, Birmingham and West Bromwich Albion.
Port Vale currently sit 21st in League One but have two games in hand on 20th-place Reading – who are one point ahead of the Stoke-on-Trent side.
Crosby had been at the club since 2021 but was appointed as permanent boss in May 2023.
Vale have struggled after injuries to two key players in Uche Ikpeazu and Ben Garrity this season.

Academy coaches Will Ryder, Matt Done and Danny Lloyd have been placed in interim charge of the League One side ahead of their next fixture against Stevenage on Saturday (10 February).
The third-tier side are also in action against Peterborough, Cheltenham, Reading, Lincoln City and Fleetwood this month.
