Sources: Portsmouth agree deal for Ogilvie after he quits Gillingham

Portsmouth have agreed a deal for former Gillingham defender Connor Ogilvie, Football Insider understands.

The 25-year-old is a free agent after he quit the Gills at the end of last season.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider he is set to undergo a medical at Portsmouth next week.

Ogilvie has spent the last four seasons with Gillingham in League One.

He moved from Tottenham on loan in 2017 before the deal was made permanent in 2019.

The left-back played 45 times in League One last season but rejected the chance to extend his stay.

Despite that, he has featured in pre-season for Steve Evan’s side but is now set to join their division rivals.

He will end his spell with the Gills side with 10 goals and eight assists in 171 appearances across all competitions.

Pompey have already signed eight players, including two on loan, as Danny Cowley prepares for his first full season in charge.

They have added 18-year-old left-back Liam Vincent from Bromley but Ogilvie represents a ready-made option.

Cowley took over at Fratton Park from Kenny Jackett in March.

He guided the club to an eighth-place finish as they missed out on a place in the play-offs thanks to a defeat to Accrington Stanley on the final day.

Ex-Premier League star Charlie Daniels, 34, ended the season as cover for first-choice left-back Lee Brown but he was released at the end of the campaign.
