Sources: Portsmouth make contact over Ben Strang deal
Portsmouth have made an approach for Cambridge United sporting director Ben Strang, Football Insider understands.
The League One outfit are planning to appoint a director of football ahead of next season.
A Portsmouth source has told Football Insider the club have spoken to Strang and are hoping to attract him ahead of the summer window.
The third-tier club were were interested in Forest Green Rovers head of recruitment Richard Hughes before he signed a new contract.
Hughes had impressed at Forest Green who secured the League Two title at the weekend and will join Pompey in League One next season.
There has been a void at the top of Portsmouth since the end of February when head of football operations Roberto Gagliardi quit the club after four years on the south coast.

Strang would have a different title but the club are keen to bring somebody in ahead of the transfer window which could be busy as they look to break into the top six.
Pompey finished 10th in League One this season, 10 points behind the play-off positions in Danny Cowley’s first full season in charge at Fratton Park.
Cambridge finished four places and 15 points behind them in their first season in the third-tier for over 20 years.
Stang signed a new deal with the club last summer (2021) that saw him promoted to sporting director after helping them gain promotion from League Two in the 2020-21 season.
