Sources: QPR agree deal to re-sign Smyth
Queens Park Rangers have agreed a deal to re-sign Paul Smyth on a free transfer from Leyton Orient, sources have told Football Insider.
Smyth, 25, is out of contract at Orient at the end of the month and he is set to leave the League One new boys on a free transfer.
A number of clubs have expressed an interest in Smyth on a free transfer, but QPR have finalised a deal to bring the attacker back to Loftus Road after initially leaving QPR for Orient in 2021.
Smyth scored 10 goals and provided three assists as Orient were crowned League Two champions last season.
The winger has also won three Northern Ireland caps to date – and scored the winning goal on his debut in a 2-1 friendly victory over South Korea in March 2018.
Smyth was named EFL Player of the Year at the London Football Awards following a magnificent run of form during the 2022-23 season which saw his side promoted to League One.
He originally joined Queens Park Rangers for an undisclosed fee in 2017 but made just 23 appearances for the club – notching two goals and one assist.
The now-25-year-old made his R’s debut against Cardiff City and scored the winning goal – which would propel him to go on to win the Supporters Young Player of the Year after an impressive first few months in the first team.

A series of loan exits followed before Smyth departed permanently for Leyton Orient in 2021.
The winger will be looking to force his way into Gareth Ainsworth’s first eleven after returning to his former side.
